mollybarton: (sick black knight)
After a hateful message at TrekBBS, I was heartened to see the support I was getting. I'm not going to be posting for a while, but I'm checking my messages if anyone wants to talk to me there. Big thanks especially to T'Bonz, Locutus of Bored, Emilia, and especially cooleddie.

Holy crap, today is my tenth anniversary at TrekBBS. And Sunday was my seventh anniversary at lj! Wow, I never imagined I'd stay at one place for so long...but here I am. I'm glad I've stuck it out- I've met (both online and IRL) people I never would have otherwise, and found new interests. I never would have gotten into Doctor Who and Torchwood if I wasn't online so much. :p I'd still be just a Trekkie. And where else would I have discovered so many obscure (but talented and cute) British actors to squee over? *lol* Thank goodness for [livejournal.com profile] obasc  and [livejournal.com profile] bryan_dick_fans ! Thanks to all my pals who have made both places so much fun and given me so much support over the years.

NINE years at TrekBBS. I like this internet thing. I think I'll stick around. *lol*

Seriously, the best times I've had on the internet have been either at live journal or Trek. Thanks to all my friends for making it fun!
mollybarton: (KM/Frodo)
I've posted at Trek BBS for eight years as of today. Eep. I can't believe I've been there that long! It's been fun...

[Error: unknown template qotd]Probably [livejournal.com profile] wrongwayjaneway   and [livejournal.com profile] crusherdisciple , because they were among my first friends at Trek BBS, where I met much of my f-list in the first place!

Speaking of lj, today is my fifth anniversary here! Wow. All I can say is thank God for this journal and my f-list. They've helped me through some tough times, especially in the past month or so! And where else on the internet can I squee about obscure cute British actors?

Birthday!

Yesterday was crap. This thread really cheered me up!

The power went out in my area last night- I actually heard the transformer explode. Oh noes! It was out for six hours. I almost overslept and was late for church- the bell choir rang this morning. I was awful. I sang really well later, though!

This was the only pumpkin from Mom's garden that didn't die. It's so little! It's barely bigger than the Hershey's Kiss I put next to it...

This one is too little to eat, but I think it's actually ripe.

Here's my newest cross-stitch update:

http://kirastitch.blogspot.com/2008/11/autumnstill-in-progress.html

I should get it done in another week!

Grrrr...I always have to miss the Trek BBS meet-ups. There's one on Sunday the 16th- I can never do Sundays. I just can't get out of bell practice. I wish we were meeting on Saturday instead. Speaking of Trek BBS, the election was very good for my post count. :p I think I posted 100 times on election night. I don't think I've ever posted that much in one day, let alone one night!

I'm trying to keep busy to keep my mind off of things. I'm under a lot of stress- mostly worries about my sister (she's having some health issues) and my cousin. One good thing- business seems to be picking up. I spent most of my weekend and today filling orders!

I'm getting my Christmas present a bit early. Next week, depending on sales, Mom is buying me a laptop. I could put it on my store credit card and write it off as a business expense, but Mom insists on buying it for me. Sweet. :D I want a Toshiba like my sister's. It has all the features and memory I need.

All my bank stuff is cleared up, thank God, so that's one less thing to worry about.

I saw Pineapple Express last night. It was hysterically funny. Funnier than Step Brothers! I never thought I'd laugh so hard at a movie about pot smokers. I laughed until I cried. My makeup was a mess after! My mom was just doubled up with laughter. I don't think I've ever seen her laugh that hard at any movie.

There's a Trek BBS meet up this Sunday, but I can't go. Damn it. Something came up. :( I really did want to go. I hope I can make the next one, wherever it may be.

Well, my nephew has quit marching band. He hates his director so much, and he says band isn't fun anymore. :( He'll still be in concert/jazz band, but marching band is usually the most fun. I can't believe that director is being allowed to bully students so much that they quit. Sam isn't the only one who quit. And he's one of the best drummers. They're going to miss him.

Tee-hee.

Look what I just found in my email...

Hello Kira's Mom,

We at The Trek BBS would like to wish you a happy birthday today!

How sweet. Happy birthday me. :D

Seven years at TrekBBS. How time flies...has it really been that long? And I'm still there...

...a TrekBBS meet-up! I met up with flamingliberal, Lindley, Squiggyfm, and WarpCoil today at the Spy Museum. It was fun and interesting, but the tour was a bit rushed. Crowded, too. Had fun chatting about the board and other stuff, and gossiping about certain members most of us don't like. :p Hope there will be another meet-up soon, because a bunch of folks couldn't make it or didn't know about it until too late. Bummer! It's always nice to see the people behind the user names! No pictures- couldn't take any in the museum, and I just plain forgot later. I would love to do a meet-up at the National Zoo when it gets warmer. That would be a hoot. And I'll take any chance I can get to go to D.C.!

Ah-choo.

Nice time for me to get a cold and sore throat. I can't go to choir tonight. I must get better before Saturday. That's when I'm going to the National Cathedral to sing! We're singing very hard music. I don't think most of the choir members can do it. Fortunately, we're singing with about 400 other people...Anyone in the D.C. area is welcome to come to the service- I think it's at 3:00. It should be lovely.

I think I will go to the meet up next Saturday. It should be a lot of fun. I've only been to D.C. once since the last meet (for Spamalot). I love going to D.C., and I've been planning to visit the Spy Museum anyway.

To those who read my locked entry- I think everything is said and done now, so I'll nuke it in case it gets in the wrong hands. :p Thanks for the kind words, I'm going to be staying put for now. The Meet-up forum is a good place to mod, and I'd hate to leave the BR.

Lost is back tomorrow night! Yay! Happy dance! Running commentary at TrekBBS! (I knew there was a reason for me to stick around!) Eight whole episodes...then that's it because of the writer's strike. House only gets two more new episodes this season (last night's was pretty good). Thank God for Torchwood- eleven more new episodes..

Speaking of Torchwood, I'm really looking forward to next week's episode, To the Last Man. (Of course, I'll probably see it tomorrow ) It's Tosh-centric, yay. We don't get enough of her. And the guest star is Anthony Lewis, older brother of Matthew from the Harry Potter films. He's just as cute, and I think he might even be a better actor. We'll see after this episode. All those good looks and talent in one family, it's not fair! :p

I think I will make my goal of reading 50 books in 2008 with no problem. I'm about to finish Wide Sargasso Sea. That brings my January total to five: The others were Atonement, Kite Runner, Border Princes (a Torchwood novel, and it was so-so), and 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. Next up is Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter- someone recommended it years ago and I'm finally getting to it! My cross stitching has been suffering a bit. I'm really getting frustrated with The Bride. And I can't finish Ivy until I get the missing threads and beads...I'm going to pick a couple of one-nighters to do to clear my head. I always feel better about the big projects after I've finished something small.

Shit.

I forgot to filter my last entry (it's done now). Guess the cat's out of the bag now.

For the next few weeks, at least. I get to spend an hour or two each week with my new T.V. boyfriends, Ianto and Owen! Hee hee. Can't keep a good fangirl down. I can't wait to pick up the DVD set. And even though I'll be able to see the shows early, I'll still be watching on BBC America. I need some good  icons now.

This is all I need, a new obsession!

I've been very lazy about cross stitching lately. I only did about two hours of work this week. Shame on me! On the other hand, I did manage to read a lot. I'm almost done reading Kite Runner (which is wonderful, and I hope I get to see the movie!). Next up, The Wide Sargasso Sea, Nights at the Circus, and The Black Dahlia.

Tomorrow, the new worship center is being dedicated at my church. I'm not thrilled about it. The service is all about the contemporary worship, and even though it's supposed to be a blended program, they'll drown us out like we don't matter at all. At least the music we're doing is nice. Maybe we can win over some new choir members and show people that there's more to music than rock and roll.

Next weekend, I'm going to Williamsburg for a day trip. I haven't been in years. I'll probably go to The Trelis restaurant for dinner with Mom and Dad. Weekend after that, I'm going with the choir for an event at the National Cathedral. I'm really looking forward to that. We're singing with about 400 other people, and the music is wonderful.  And the week after that, there's a Trek BBS meet-up at the Spy Museum! (are you listening, [profile] shatna?) That will be a blast. I haven't been there yet. And I think it's time to go back to the Air and Space Museum (either site).
mollybarton: (Bad Nagle!)

...regarding the Trek XI forum. [profile] pktrekgirl will know exactly what I'm talking about...*rolls eyes*
mollybarton: (Kira WTF????)
Oh, yeah, the board is slow. Just when I have time to do some actual thread reading in Trek XI. Grrr.
mollybarton: (Default)
I  just finished her birthday present. I think she'll like it- it's garden-themed.

Big pic behind the cut...

mollybarton: (KM/Frodo)
I volunteered to help Lord Garth out in the Trek XI forum- it's starting to get busy, and there will surely be fighting. Joy. It should be fun, though. I'm starting to get interested in the new film!
